Delete your account
This page explains how to delete your MyBible account, what is erased, what we keep, and how long it takes. Deleting an account is permanent.
How to delete your account from the app
Account deletion is done in the MyBible mobile app, on iPhone and on Android. The website has no delete button yet.
- Open the MyBible app and sign in with the account you want to delete.
- Go to your account and open Edit Profile.
- Choose Delete account.
- Confirm that the account is yours: enter your password, or sign in again with Google or Apple if that is how you created the account.
The confirmation is required every time. We never delete an account on a request we cannot tie to its owner.
What happens straight away
- The account stops working the moment you confirm, and you are signed out on every device.
- You can no longer sign in with your password, with Google or with Apple, and a password reset will not find the account either.
- Nothing is erased yet. Your data is still stored — no longer reachable from the app or the website — until the waiting period below ends.
The waiting period
Your data stays stored for 30 days after you delete the account. Once that period is over, an automated job erases the account and everything it holds, for good. The job runs every night, and never before that period has elapsed.
What is erased permanently
At the end of the waiting period the following are deleted and cannot be restored:
- Your account itself — your name, e-mail address, password, and the link to your Google or Apple account.
- Your profile picture, including any older one left behind by a replacement.
- Your Bible notes.
- Your favourite verses, the notes attached to them, and the folders you organised them in.
- Your saved devotionals and your saved hymns.
- Your reading plans and how far you got in each.
- Your Sabbath School answers, saved lessons and highlighted passages, including the older highlights kept from the previous version of the site.
- Your Bible Olympiad attempts, your scores, and the answer you gave to each question.
- Your reading progress — which chapters you have read, in each Bible version.
- Every sign-in token on every device. A pending password-reset link for your address goes too, unless a different, still-active account is using that same address by then — the link then belongs to that account, so it stays.
Items you had already deleted inside the app are erased as well, not only the ones still visible to you.
What we keep, and why
A few records stay on, each for the reason given beside it. None of them holds your name, your e-mail address or anything else from your profile — this is what each one does keep:
- Download records for books and resources, with the reference to your account removed, so the totals stay correct. A download made from the mobile app was also recorded with the identifier of the device it came from, and that identifier stays.
- Usage events — what was done in the app, and when. The reference to your account, the device reference, and anything you had typed into the search box are all removed from them in the same step.
- Mistake reports you sent about commentary text, so the correction is not lost. The reference to your account is removed; the wording of the report itself is kept. A report sent from the mobile app also carries the identifier of the device it was sent from, and that identifier stays.
- Administrative records of content imports and AI usage, if your account ever triggered any, with the reference to your account removed.
- Daily active-user counts, which hold nothing but a date and the internal id of your account — a number that resolves to no account at all once yours is erased.
A deletion that goes through is not recorded in any log that names you. If a step of the erasure fails — Apple unreachable, or a stored file that will not delete — that failure is recorded in our technical logs, with the internal id and not with your name, so the erasure can be finished by hand.
Can I get my account back?
No. A deleted account cannot be restored. The deletion takes effect at once, and neither the app, nor the website, nor a request to us can bring the account back — we have no way to undo it. Signing in again with Google or Apple, or registering again with the same e-mail address, creates a brand-new, empty account: your notes, favourites and progress do not come back with it.
If you sign in with Apple
- Removing MyBible from your Apple ID, in your Apple ID settings, signs you out and unlinks Apple from your account — it does not delete the account. If Apple was your only way in, use the written request below instead.
- Deleting your whole Apple ID does delete your MyBible account, and the same waiting period applies.
- If you used Hide My Email you may have more than one MyBible account. Deleting one of them does not touch the others.
Asking us to delete your account in writing
You can also ask for your account to be deleted in writing at dpo@viatasisanatate.ro, from the e-mail address of the account concerned so we can tell it is you. We will handle it as a data-erasure request under our privacy policy.
For the full picture of what we collect and why, see our privacy policy.
